Movember – Shining a spotlight on men’s health in November
All over the world, the month of November is being used to highlight men’s health issues. With too many men, dying too young, Movember efforts can help to change this, so men can live happier, healthier and longer lives.
Movember is the largest charity in the world that tackles men’s health. Founded in Australia in 2003, they have expanded to more than 20 countries across the globe. They focus on the three biggest health issues that impact on men:
- Testicular cancer
- Prostate cancer
- Men’s mental health & suicide prevention
Seetec Ireland has been supporting Movember and has so far raised an impressive €900.
Activities have included seeing staff including the senior management team commit to walking 60km in November.
Ursula Kenny, Human Resources Manager said, “Personally, I have walked about 34km so far this month and the challenge has certainly given me more motivation to leave the house on these cold evenings. I’ve had the company of my eight-year-old son, on some of my walks and it has been a lovely opportunity to talk and raise his awareness even at his young age, about the importance of looking after physical and mental health”.
Other activities have included bake offs and cake sales, casual dress down days, a beard shave off and grow a mo competition.

The Seetec Ireland team will continue with their fundraising throughout November. All funds raised will support all the grandads, dads, brothers, sons, uncles, nephews, colleagues and friends in our lives who have been or may be impacted by health issues and help to raise awareness of men’s health across Ireland.
