Longford Citizens Benefit from Successful Partnership

Seetec and First Rung Services have successfully partnered to deliver digital skills to the people of Ireland. 

Seetec have been working alongside First Rung Services, part of the (RIDC) Roscommon Integrated Development Company in their outreach offices in Roscommon town for the past 12 months.

RIDC brings together key development projects including rural enterprise, development and social inclusion that work for the betterment of the people of Co. Roscommon.  First Rung Services deliver the Digital Skills for Citizens contract which is funded by the Department of Communication, Climate Action, and Environment (DCCAE).  The contract provides basic digital skills training to people across Ireland.

First Rung were looking to expand their digital training and approached Seetec to see if we could support them with their second year of delivery.  Seetec already delivers informal digital skills training to our existing clients, so this was an excellent opportunity to formalise that delivery and engage with the local community. 

Seetec began delivering the Digital Skills programme in September as a trial offering 10 hours of digital learning across 5 two-hour classes covering subjects such as social media and websites.

Participants were pleased with the new training, client Marisa said, “I now have the confidence to go online and book myself a holiday which I would not have been able to do if I had not attended the course”.

Georgina Murphy, Operations and Supply Chain Director, said: “This is a great example of how a local relationship between our operational teams can grow and develop into a new opportunity for the local community.  The work the Longford/Roscommon team have done to get this contract off the ground has been amazing and I am delighted that the trial has been so successful.  We will be delivering this contract across more of Seetec’s centres in October with a view to delivering across all Seetec and supply chain partner offices over the coming month.


The Digital Skills for Citizens contract is funded by the Department of Communication, Climate Action, and Environment (DCCAE).
