Galway Welcome to Work Customers Graduate
Participants of the ‘Welcome to Work’ programme in Galway, Ireland have successfully graduated after 13 weeks training.
The programme aims to increase employment opportunities for legally resident migrants who are finding it difficult to get into employment.
Welcome to Work provides opportunities for migrants to improve their English language skills, gain computer skills, boost their confidence and build employability skills.
The graduates formally received their certificates after spending the morning visiting Galway City museum. The cultural trip is part of the programme’s outcome to integrate migrants into Irish culture and history.
Olga, originally from Latvia and now living in Galway was keen to share her enthusiasm for the programme.
“The Welcome to Work programme helped me get ideas on what work I’d like to get in the near future. It gave me a fresh outlook about searching for the right job and how to create the right CV. Additionally my vocabulary has improved, and I feel a much more confident person.”
Patrycja lives in Galway and moved to Ireland from Poland.
She added: “When I first came to Seetec I was quite sceptical of what I would get from the course. I participated with my husband who was struggling with English and seeking help with finding a job. But from lesson to lesson I realised that this programme helped me to settle well in Galway, to get to know people and to improve my English. The help I got with writing my CV and cover letter allowed me to apply for the type of work I have always dreamed of.”
The next open day is on Friday 20th April 2018 at Seetec's Galway centre.
